Reason # 19 Ek het n HUISIE in die Bos
Ek het n huisie in die Bos
Jul kan my maar hier vir ewig los
Sê vir die wêreld; Ek het geDros
na my eie Kosmos.
Nou is ek Kosmopoliet Kluisenaar
"navigaar"
met Sterrestelsel en rekenaar.
Internet en hemel wemel wyeweb
'n koepel vir gebed, met net verbeelding in my dubbelbed
niemand hoef my te kom liefkoos
of Red
Spinnerak fyn geweefde droom
ideaal en sindroom
Pinky & die Brein
neem die wereld steeds daagliks oor
loslit-loslyf-loshand en bekoor.
Ek dra my onthou tas,
oral met my saam
en bind my bekwaam
aan bome en mure met boeie en bas
van groot Dankbaarheid vas!
Tucked away in a whispering forest on the banks of Stellenbosch, my little cottage has become more than just a home—it’s my refuge and my reward. The mornings here begin with birdsong and soft light filtering through a canopy of trees, while the evenings are painted with the amber and pinks of a Winelands sunset.
There is a braai, a fireplace, a gas-heater, warmth and hospitality abound. The squirrels are my pets. Stars shine onto my stoep. They are hanged in the arms of majestic Oaks. The moon ponders over a hill. Simonsberg is still asleep in the distance - a Mountain to be reconned with. Let no one disturbs his slumber.
Life slows down between the oaks and leavy greens, and I’ve learned to listen more closely—to the whisper of trees and to myself. I feel like living in a Portal.
This little haven isn’t far from the hum of university life, just the way I like it. On some days, I wander the footpaths into town for coffee and conversation; on others, I stay wrapped in the gentle silence of the woods. Here, I find space to read, to write, to dream, to still teach and consult—and to simply BE. It’s a quieter life than what I am used to, but a far richer one...
Do Pop in for tea sometime!

Ps...my son sent me this YouTube Song link yesterday (see below) because it fits so beautifully with the theme at hand, he said. I couldn't agree more. With this clip, our family celebrates all the houses we've lived in — the privilege we've had to live, love, and open our hearts and doors to others. Stay warm and cozy in yours this wet weekend and winter ahead. Enjoy!
