Reason # 60 To all of you who know and love me, who am I to deserve this?

Image
And so we have come to the end of the blog. 60 Days! 60 Reasons! Countless blessings revisited!!! I must confess that at times I had a deep need for people to know me truly and intimately . I now know that this not always possible. Being almost sixty, and especially through writing this blog, I came to the realization that it is not really important at all. Still, it is wonderful to be seen by the people you love. It is not about ticking checkboxes; it is about celebrating who we are. These days many of us have started to interact with AI to aid in our work, research, questions, etc. Many are against it. You know me—I allow you to believe what feels right for you and what works for you. YOU do YOU, I will do ME! (Thanks, Rachelle!) As for me, I always embrace technology without losing human connection and while always still giving Spirit the foremost place in my life. That being said, as I wrote this blog, I always asked A.I. to spell-check my posts. So it “read” my posts in detail. ...

Reason # 59 TOO MANY BLESSINGS to count - because “This water lives in Mombasa anyway. It’s only passing through here.”

And here we find ourselves, at the doorstep of the celebration.  Even that in itself is yet one more blessing. What a ride this blog has been; - to remember and re-visit, and count and be filled with gratitude. Sorry if I have worn you out at times. But hey, I am almost 60 now! so I don't care too much about that anymore ha ha. "You do YOU, and I will do ME" like my one good friend always reminds me. And it seems I am starting to, at long last, get the perfect balance and hang to do the "Me" business! (yet I am still clinging to the idea that we are all one!) (at least, we are all part of the ONE!!) Tomorrow, God willing, I will conclude this wonderful journey of identifying blessings. But as I type here, I already know, that the most important thing that I have learned from this blog and taking the time to count my blessings, is that I discovered that they are way more than 60 !!!! And how I am already looking forward to the new blessing on their way still. Th...

Reason # 58 Visual Aid Series: The faithful STEEDS

Image
Cars have been my loyal sidekicks through the chapters of life...  The Beemers and Mercs strutted in like celebrities—polished, powerful, purring with pride. Others… well, they were more like scrappy underdogs, squeaking and coughing but refusing to give up. The very first one was a Datsun 1200 complete with vinal roof. I called it "Gamor", Hebrew for Donkey. I was a first year theology student when Dear Mum and Dad scrapped the funds together for this little faithful machine. I was truly spoiled! Yes at times I wished the petrol and temperature gages would switch (the petrol gage was always close to zero, while the temperature gage was constantly close to full alert), but still... I’ve driven “luxury with leather” and I’ve driven “please-don’t-break-down-before-payday or you have reached your destination,” and each one taught me something. The fancy rides whispered, “Enjoy the good times,” while the humble little cheapies reminded me, “It’s not about the shine, it’s about ...

Reason # 57 Visual Aid Series: the 300 PLUS

Image
Enough now with the Titles, Trophies, and Training—Be a Little More Modest, You Might Say!  And you’re right. But then again,  we all know that One "T" is missing namely; Die TROUES!!! Hence, I need to start to wrap up this Visual Aid series with something special—an illustration of what 300 couples would look like if photographed together. Sounds like one of those mass weddings you’ve heard about in the Mormon church or in Japan, doesn’t it? Well, in a way, that’s my story too. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of facilitating the weddings of about 300 couples—and counting. Yes it started with a special ceremony for my friend. Then followed family members, colleagues, later kids of colleagues, clients, friends, friends of friends. Students. Friends of students. Attendees at some of my services etc. etc... What began as a simple favor for a close friend, just a once-off gesture, turned into a steady flow of blessings and my small contribution to making a beautiful day...

Reason # 55 Visual Aid Series: JOB DESCRIPTIONS sometimes come with TITLES

Image
All of the above Job Descriptions, I had to wear around my neck at some point in my life. It is a bit like wearing a "Toga" - the one thing I at one stage wanted to prevent at all costs, and yet here we are.... Like a "Toga" a "Title" can be both an incredible honor and burden at the same time. Somehow, we must walk the journey we choose. Let's suffice by that!  12 July 2025 LINK: LINK to Landing page with LINKS to other "REASONS" posts

Reason # 54 Visual Aid Series: Appreciation & Gratitude for ACCOLADES

Image
Looking back, I’m deeply grateful for the occasions when my input or work was recognized with awards. It started with a humble book prize in Std 1 for best handwriting (the inscription said for best progress in neat and clean handwriting ha ha and some poem recited called "the VoĆ«lkoor" ) and later a few others followed. However, it is difficult to talk about these running the risk to sound pompous. To me, these weren’t just accolades, but affirmations that to never give up, staying true to your vision and giving your best matters. I owe these moments to countless people who encouraged, challenged, and believed in me along the way. Therefor, these honors belong not only to me, but to the many hands and hearts that journeyed with me. I share this, once again, not in a spirit of "Oh Wow look at me!!" No, I share it in recognition of the blessings that was bestowed upon me, the very reason what this blog is meant for.... Here is my creative way of remembering and say...
