Reason # 32 a PICTURE paints a thousand words Series ~1 PARENTS

Image
They say a picture paints a thousand words — and perhaps even more.  A single photograph or image has the power to capture emotion, preserve memory, and tell a story no words could ever fully express. In the blink of a shutter, we freeze a moment in time: a smile shared, a tear shed, a hand held, a dream realized. These images become silent witnesses to our lives, reminding us of where we've been, who we’ve loved, and how we’ve grown. In a world flooded with noise, sometimes it's the quiet stillness of a photo that speaks the loudest. Hence, today I start with a series to simply paste a picture per day. That will suffice - no words needed, because as was said: A picture paints a thousand words! Each one of these is a huge Reason why I feel blessed: And there are surely no other place to start than with a Picture of my Parents, I really have been super blessed to call these people my Pa and Ma! THANK YOU Andries & Nettie - you were (are)  the BEST! Smile for the Camera...

Reason # 31 TALENT hunting (and carpentry)

Image
My friend, Louis van Tonder, teaching his NLP programs and helping so many kids discover their full potential, share with them the following beautiful truth: "...although we cannot all be chosen as leaders at school, our time for leadership will come in one way or another...." Remember my earlier posts about this?—we are all unique and beautiful blessings to the miracle of life. In a similar vein, what we celebrate today, is a rather mundane thing, but still a blessing for me. And that is the fact that I installed all the cupboards in many of the houses I built—certainly those I built for my family. In those days, it often meant running between lecture halls and Builders Warehouse or Timber City. I think I became quite a carpenter at times! But here is the interesting bit, tying in with what I said above: I failed woodwork completely in Grade 8 (our old Standard 6) lock stock and barrel, hammer and chisel so to speak - I just couldn't nail it ha ha!!!. That class was ...

Reason # 30 YOUTH

Image
Yesterday we celebrated Father's Day - Today we celebrate YOUTH Day!  In South Africa, especially, Youth Day is a powerful reminder of the courage, resilience, and potential of young people.  Today, it’s not only about remembering the past, but also about investing in the future—by listening to, empowering, and supporting the dreams of young people. Their energy, creativity, and idealism are vital for building a more just, compassionate, and forward-thinking society. Youth Day calls us to nurture the next generation, to honour their hopes, and to walk with them as they shape the world to come. Reason # 28 The joy of SPIRIT

Image
From Tradition to Tolerance: A Journey of Faith and Wonder And since today is Sunday - what better day to talk about Spirit, than Today ? I began my journey in theology as a traditionalist—devoted to the clear boundaries, structured beliefs, and sacred rituals that have grounded Christian faith for centuries. These traditions shaped me, formed my conscience, and gave me a deep reverence for the wisdom passed down through the ages. But faith and Spirit, being alive, moves. It breathes and evolves. And over time, I found my heart widening toward something I had not expected: a growing appreciation for the diverse ways in which people encounter the Divine. Today, I remain deeply rooted in the Christian story of love and oneness with God/Source. But my gaze has lifted beyond the walls of doctrine to glimpse the esoteric beauty of God—that mysterious, transcendent presence that dances through all creation, beyond the labels we give and the lines we draw. This shift in perspective d...
